CAROLINE Bell, a trainee with the English Rugby Academy, which trains players for the England squad, is hoping to inspire other students to tackle the game.
A former Thirsk School student, Caroline is currently studying at Leeds University. She returned to her old school playing field recently to coach girls interested in forming a rugby squad.
The talented player, captain of the Thirsk Sharks women's rugby team, is hoping to attract girls to the under 16 training sessions of the North Yorkshire girls' rugby development scheme.
It is hoped that this will lead to the formation of a rugby squad at the school.
Head of PE Andy Rickard said: "We had about 16 girls turn up at last week's session despite the blustery weather and more this week, so things are looking good."
