Under-12s: Spraire Lasses 5 v 1 Norton & Stockton Ancients
Spraire took their goal tally to 100 for the season in an highly entertaining league game. Norton were brimming with confidence but were left frustrated by the excellent goalkeeping of Spraire player of the match Katie McTague. Spraire created some good chances and Laura Gowling hit the woodwork twice in the first 10 minutes. Katie McTague made an excellent save to stop NASA opening the scoring. Jordan Atkinson opened the scoring for Spraire and their lead was doubled by Laura Gowling. Rachel McKnight made it 3-0 and Laura Gowling completed her hat trick to make it 5-0 and score Spraire's 100th goal of the season. After the break NASA the break Norton produced a resentless onslaught on the Spraire goal. Norton pulled a deserved goal back through Phillipa Thomas. Player's of the match were Katie McTague and Phillipa Thomas.
Low Fell 0 v 5 Boldon
This game was switched from Boldon's pitch as it was unplayable. The game started in windy condititons and it took a while for the teams to settle into the game. Boldon took the lead in the first quarter through Stacey Bonney. Boldon began to take control in the 2nd quarter and scored 3 more goals through Stacey Bonney, Stephanie Shaw and Victoria Sheriff to take a 4-0 lead at half time. Low Fell contained Boldon better in the second half. Boldon got their 5th goal through Stacey Bonney's 3rd goal of the game. At the end of the quarter it was 5-0 to Boldon. Low Fell came out in the final quarter and took the game to Boldon. Sophie Parish was outstanding for Low Fell, as was their player of the match Charlotte Walton. Boldon's player of the match was hat-trick scorer Stacey Bonney.
Lumley Lasses 6 v 1 Birtley Town
A good game in difficult conditions saw Lumley extend their narrow first quarter lead to 4-0 at half time. The remainder of the game was fairly even with Birtley getting more than just a consolation goal in the final quarter. A hat trick by Rachel Kirkup, 2 by Alison Walsh and a great strike by Sarah Horne, the Lumley player of the match, for the home side while a great goal and overall performance by Birtley player of the match Laura Lines ended an enthralling match.
Wardley Wrens 0 v 5 Newcastle
Both teams enjoyed the game in this hard fought match. The Newcastle goalkeeper played very well and saved a few one-on-one encounters with Wardley's Victoria Hart. Players of the match were Jane Spoors and Katie Allsop. After a long enforced break due to Christmas and the weather the girls are happy to be playing football again and are looking forward to the second half of the season.
Billingham 6 v 1 Seaton Juniors
Billingham opened the scoring after 2 minutes with an excellent goal from Rachel Turner Holmes. Rachel went on to score 2 more to complete a first quarter hat-trick. Seaton to their credit tightened up their defence and with the help of their goalkeeper player of the match Jessica Coates they stopped Billingham increasing their lead by too many more goals despite excellent pressure and goal attempts from Billingham. Jessica Close turned in a fine display as Billingham's player of the match and should have scored a hat trick. Scoreres were Rachel Turner Holmes (4) and Amy Plummer (2) for Billingham and Lauren Spoors for Seaton.
Marton 21 v 0 Barnard Castle
Marton produced an excellent performance and dominated the match. Goals from Sammy Conroy, Steph Chisman (2), Laura Wilson (2) and Becky Robinson (3) made it 8-0 to Marton at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter Beth McGhee, Sammy Conroy and Becky Robinson added to the scoring. Barnard Castle created some great chances and Emily Bateman in goal for Marton made some good saves. At the end of the 3rd quarter Beth McGhee added her second of the game and Sammy Conroy and Steph Chisman both completed their hat tricks. Barnard Castle continued to try hard but began to tire in the final quarter. They completed the scoring with goals from Steph Chisman (2), Becky Robinson (2), Fliss Middleton and Laura Wilson who completed her hat trick. Players of the match were Samantha Conroy and Stacey McKitton. Goals for Marton came from Samantha Conroy (4), Laura Wilson (3), Steph Chisman (5), Rebecca Robinson (6), Bethany McGhee (2) and Felicity Middleton.
South Durham Royals 0 v 3 Blyth
The match was hard for both teams on heavy ground. It was a closely contested game and Blyth took the lead after 17 minutes through Anna Thompson. Anna added her second in the 50th minute and completed her hat trick in the last 5 minutes. The score did not reflect the match which was closely contested. Players of the match were Rebecca Toppin and Claire Pitt.
Under-13s
Blyth Town 2 v 3 Newcastle
Newcastle started the game strongest in the first quarter, going close on several occasions. Blyth found the going heavy yet still managed to get a few chances on goal. The second quarter saw Blyth take the game to Newcastle, but it was Newcastle broke to score the goal. Blyth rallied but were unable to score against a resolute Newcastle defence. The 3rd quarter saw Newcastle increse their lead, however Blyth replied with a great strike. Going into the final quarter the game was poised for an exciting finale. Blyth pushed for an equaliser but it was Newcastle that got the next goal. Blyth didnt give up and scored a penalty. Blyth then pushed for an equaliser but the game finished Blyth 2 Newcastle 3. Goals came from Jodie Kendall (2) for Blyth and Joanna Whitechurch(2) and Elizabeth Tulip for Newcastle. Players of the match were Sara Scovell and Joanna Whitechurch.
South Durham Royals 1 v 2 Norton & Stockton Ancients
Royals took the lead after eight minutes following some good passing football which saw Jennifer Jennings scoring. After 13 minutes Hayley Pratt equalised. The match was evenly fought with both sides having chances. Hayley Pratt scored again after 50 minutes to give NASA the lead. Players of the match were Chloe MacKay and Rachel Jamieson
Under-14s
Catterick Girls 0 v 15 Boldon
Catterick started the better and Kim Osburn hit the underside of the bar with a free kick. Boldon took control of the game and played an excellent passing game. Goals came at regular intervals and Boldon were 8-0 up at half time. The second half followed the same pattern as the first. Boldon dominated. Player of the match was Charlotte Ewbank for Catterick as she had an excellent game in goal for Catterick and for Boldon it was Helen Wilcox. Goals for Boldon came from Michaela Carter (6), Steff Crann (2), Rachel Raine (2), Lauren Lang (2), Jane Riddell, Joanne Moncur and Helen Wilcox (1).
Marton 12 v 0 Lumley
Following the winter break the girls were looking forward to playing again. Unfortunately Lumley only had 10 players so found it hard from the start. In the first half Marton scored 8 goals through Anna Mawston (2), Elisha Fry (2), Becky Hanratty, Claire Helm, Scarlett Crow and Amy Morrison. Lumley didnt give up although the extra player did make all the difference for Marton. The second half did not produce as many goals, however 4 more were scored. Anna Mawston complated her hat-trick and Elisha Fry took her tally to 4 for the day. Abbey Lyle and Jenni Calais completed the scoring for Marton. Lumley continued competing until the final whistle and players of the match were Becky Hanratty and Sarah Grufferty.
