PENSIONERS who could be missing out on benefits are invited to an open day to help them with their claims.
Age Concern representatives will offer advice to people over the age of 50 at Baring Court, Tow Law, on Tuesday, February 11, from 10am to 1pm. No appointment is necessary, but people are asked to bring with them details of their incomes and savings.
The event follows an open day at the Four Clocks Centre, in Bishop Auckland, last month, which was well attended.
Pauline Walden, from the charity's Dales locality office, said: "A lot of people came. There are 30 people at the moment who have submitted benefit claims as a result.
"We were quite surprised at how many people came who had no idea of what they are entitled to. Even those who cannot claim said they were glad that they came along to the day because it put their minds at rest.''
