MANUFACTURING problems have been blamed for the late start of Wear Valley's recycling scheme, which should have got under way last month.
Green boxes were due to arrive in the district yesterday and will be sent out to residents from Monday.
They will all be electronically tagged to record the amount of paper, cans, glass, clothing, card and shoes tipped into special collection vehicles.
Wear Valley has teamed up with Teesdale and Derwentside District Council to operate the project, which will cover 80,000 homes.
