CAMPAIGNERS lobbying for Britain to keep the pound came head-to-head with the euro's supporters yesterday.
Businessmen heard both sides of the argument when Durham Business Club hosted a debate on the euro in Chester-le-Street.
Campaign groups Business for Sterling and North-East in Europe made their cases before a sell-out audience. The debate was the first of its kind to be held in the region.
Christine Yule, of Durham Business Club, said: "The euro debate has always been a hot topic, but the common complaint has been the lack of facts to support either option."
