St. Mary's Coll. OB 8 v 0 Black Horse: The College reduced Thornaby Mandale's lead at the top of the table to just two points with Mark Elliott hitting a hat-trick.

Black Horse battled hard in the first half, limiting St. Marys to just two goals, Phillips and Elliott scoring. Elliott then picked up his second early in the second half and Andrew Brothwood added a fourth with a well executed 20 yard effort. Despite the scoreline, Black Horse's keeper, Chris Davies, picked up the man of the match award for some outstanding saves but even he could do little as the College continued to find the back of the net. Elliott completed his hat-trick for number five and sub Bellerby rounded the keeper for the sixth. Two goals from Dave Aspery completed a fine performance.

North Skelton 1 v 5 B&H King's Head

Kings Head went a goal behind when Alan Cummings fired North Skelton ahead with a 20-yard volley But three goals in ten minutes shortly before half time turned the game in the King's Head favour. It was the King's Head who coasted to victory with two more strikes. Steve Welsh and John May produced man of the match performances for their respective sides.

Bull's Head 2 v 1 Coulby Newham LF

Mark Sowerby got on the end of Richard May's corner to give Coulby Newham the lead before the Bull's Head bounced back when Martin Dewing equalised. Minutes later, the Bulls took the lead when Mark Bailes chipped the keeper and they held on til the final whistle with keeper Alan Stiff being man of the match.

South Bank U. 3 v 4 Thornaby Village

It took an injury time goal to settle this seven-goal thriller with both sides taking the lead at various points. Dave Larkin gave United the lead but Dean Melville levelled only for Larkin to restore United's lead. Two goals from Mark Casey however turned the game on it's head and although Truscott brought the sides level, a late strike from the Village was enough to seal the three points.

Stokesley 2 v 5 The Grenadier

Two goals from Andy Fixter gave the Grenadier the upper but the home side came back when Michael Bulmer headed home. Stokesley keeper Gary Cairns turned in a man of the match performance but he could do little as the Grenadier scored twice. Bulmer reduced the arrears from the penalty spot with 15 minutes remaining but the visitors had the last word when they scored following a breakaway.

North Riding Chall. Cup quarter finals

Thornaby Mandale 5 v 2 Staithes

Despite the final scoreline, Mandale did not have things their own way till very late on, and at one point found themselves trailing to the Eskvale and Cleveland side. Andrew Dyson put Mandale ahead when he chipped the keeper from 25 yards out. Staithes bounced back with Steve Biddingfield pulling a goal back from the penalty spot on the half hour and John Libby heading home from close range early in the second half. With 20 minutes to go, Dyson levelled the scores yet again, but it was three goals in the space of 13 minutes that settled the tie. Andrew Barnes started the goal rush before Dyson completed his hat-trick with ten minutes remaining. It was left the Stephen Lambert to complete goalscoring when he wrapped up an excellent performance firing home from 15 yards out.

Ennis Square 2 v 1 Woodman's Arms

Ennis Square joined Mandale in the semi-final at the expense of a fellow Stokesley side, but it needed extra time to separate the sides. Ten minutes after the break, Paul Dodkins hit a 40 yard shot that flew into the top corner of the net. Woodmans sent the game into extra time and with extra time looking as if it was not going to produce a winner, Dodkins struck again.
