In the Premier Division the champions Billingham Wanderers are now in second place, they won 4-0 at home to the Lord Seaham.

Mark Steel shot them into the lead after ten minutes and was only desperate defending by the visitors that prevented more goals being scored, however, on half time Steve Parkes out jumped all to head home across from man of the match Jeff Kirton and give Billingham a 2-0 lead. The restart saw Billingham still on the attack and they went 3-0 up when Keith Corner put away a cross from Charlie Bell and finally Keith Aldridge settled the issue when he scored from 20-yards.

Ferryhill Greyhound won 1-0 at the Masons Arms. This was a game of missed chances, the deadlock was broken when Steve Weldon headed home a centre from David Stephenson. Centreback Nigel Fawdon had an outstanding game.

In Division One Darlington Croft kept their promotion hopes alive by drawing 3-3 away to Sedgefield. It was a game full of excitement which lasted until the final whistle. The Croft took an early lead only for Brian Carruthers to level and then Peter Roberts scored to give the home side a 2-1 interval lead. Shortly after the start Croft scored the equaliser but Stephen Beamson quickly netted to restore Sedgefield's lead 3-2. With five minutes remaining the Croft pushed all forward and got the vital goal to make it 3-3. John Barker and Keiron McStravish were Sedgefield's scorers.

Langley Park Rams Head lost 3-2 away to the Barnes Hotel. The Rams had the better of the first half and led 1-0 at the interval and after the restart scored again to lead 2-0. A win appeared certain but with only ten minutes left Barnes talked in a grandstand finish scored three goals to win their first game of the season and to leave the Rams wondering how they had contrived to lose a game they had never looked like losing until the last minutes.

Newton Aycliffe dropped two valuable home points by drawing 2-2 with Wearmouth. It was Wearmouth who took an early lead but the home side drew level when Neil Harnett scored a penalty. After the restart Geoff Peadon shot Aycliffe into a 2-1 lead and somehow Wearmouth managed to keep their goal intact despite all Aycliffe's attacks. In the dying minutes the visitors levelled from a breakaway.

In Division Two Barnard Castle lost 4-2 at Boldon Black Bull. Castle went 1-0 up when Graham Hammond scored but Boldon levelled via a penalty, and then went 2-1 up scoring a minute before the interval. Alan Briggs levelled but two further home goals settled the issue.

Consett turned in a super performance to defeat the leaders Hartlepool Catholic Club at home. They played attacking football from the start and goals from Shaun Peacock and Billy Thompson gave them a 2-0 interval lead and they never looked like conceding.

In Division Three Billingham Town are third, they won 3-2 at Steels FC. Leading 2-0 at the interval they, after the restart Steels' John Hicks pulled one back and Tom Cowell levelled. Billingham scored the winner with four minutes remaining.

Darlington Railway continued their fight against relegation they played well to win 3-1 at Darsley Park.

West Cornforth also did well they won 2-1 away to Roker Queen Vic. Durham City Strollers were brilliant, they defeated second placed Hylton Castle 2-0 at home, Maguire and Harrison scoring in each half.

In Division Four Crook Town won 2-1 at home to Taylors. Robinson scoring a brace to keep their promotion hopes alive as they have a number of games in hand of those above them.
