AMATEUR musicians and computer enthusiasts can benefit from a centre which opened in Hartlepool yesterday.
A £370,000 extension to Manor College of Technology features two large music rooms, complete with keyboards and computer teaching aids, and two science classrooms. The community music and science centre gives pupils and other local people the chance to try their hand at instruments including Yamaha keyboards, guitar and drums, as well as compose music by computer.
College bosses say the facilities, which have been open to the public for some time, have already proved a success with most evenings busy after school.
The project has been paid for by the Owton Rossmere Single Regeneration Budget Partnership, the Government, Hartlepool Council and the college.
