Police are hunting burglars who took a computer and DVDs from a house in Colburn.

The intruders forced their way into the property in Cookson Way by smashing a ground- floor window sometime between Monday and Thursday. Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious is asked to contact police in Richmond or call Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.

ROAD CLOSURE: Wood Street and Beverley Road, in Norton, near Malton, will be closed for five days from Monday to enable repairs to be carried out.

CLIFF REPAIRS: Work has begun on a £100,000 programme to repair damaged cliffs in the Spa Gardens, Scarborough, below the Esplanade. The work is expected to take about five weeks.

CANCER CASH: Fundraising by the Bedale branch of the Skipton Building Society has raised £300 for Yorkshire Cancer Research. The employees' next charity venture will be an Easter bonnet competition.

CROSSING CLOSURE: The Bootham level crossing in Wigginton Road, and the Haxby Road crossing in Haxby Road, York, will close on Wednesday and Thursday nights to allow essential track work to be carried out.
