Darlington police are warning people to be vigilant after a spate of sneak-in burglaries.

A spokesman said last night that there had recently been a 50 per cent increase in burglaries where thieves sneaked into homes through unlocked doors and windows.

They have warned people to ensure their houses are secure, even when at home.
