A new group for young people has been launched at St Cuthbert's Church in Darlington Market Place.

Called Snatch, it meets on alternate Saturdays in the church centre for art, drama, discussions, quizzes and games. It is open to anyone aged 12 to 16. The next meeting will be on March 8, from 6pm to 7.30pm.

CONCERT DATE: The Carol Andrews Singers are performing at All Saints' Church, Ravensdale Road, Darlington, on Saturday, March 1, at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the parish office on (01325) 469891 and from Williams' music store in Blackwellgate.

LUNCH CLUB: West Auckland Community Partnership lunch club's second trip of the year will be to Partners, in Bishop Auckland, on Tuesday, March 4. The bus will pick up outside the West Auckland Village Centre at noon. Anyone wishing to go on the trip can leave their name and a £1.50 deposit at the centre.

JUMBLE SALE: A jumble sale takes place at Heighington Village Hall on Saturday, March 1, from 10am to noon. Proceeds go to St Michael's Church.

CHARITY AID: Staff at the Asda store in Bishop Auckland have raised £402.93 for the Bowel Cancer Care charity.

DANCE DATE: St Paul's Church Hall, Spennymoor, will hold a St Valentine's dance on Saturday, from 7.30pm to 11pm. Tickets are available on (01388) 814514.

APPLICATION SUBMITTED: R Thompson, of Hall Lane, Heighington has applied to Darlington Borough Council for permission to do work on a Lawson Cypress tree within the Heighington conservation area.
