A Darlington store has raised over £5,000 for local charities in the past year.
Staff at the Marks and Spencer store in Northgate, have held book sales, raffles, quiz nights and staged a New Year dip in the North Sea to raise funds.
The store has raised £2,500 which was matched by Marks and Spencer so that the funds could be split between Darlington Memorial Hospital's Save Our Sight Appeal and Darlington After School and Holiday Play Scheme for disabled children (Dash).
Store manager Elaine Smith said: "The team selected the local charities that they wanted to support and we're delighted that we've managed to raise such a healthy amount."
Chrisjan Dees, an eye consultant at Darlington Memorial Hospital, said: "This money means we can greatly improve the care we can offer patients with diabetes and other eye diseases."
The Marks and Spencer team are also donating £100 to the Darlington Reach programme and George Dent Nursery School, which plans to use the money to build a garden for the children.
