THE RSPCA is asking animal-lovers to consider offering couples a home.

Greyhounds Dolly and Carrie were left to die by their owner, and were chronically emaciated when they were found two years ago.

They have made a full recovery and remain trusting and good-natured. They are also inseparable, sleeping in the same basket and going for walks together.

"We never know whether it is the fact they need twice the food or twice the care, but it's often difficult to find homes for couples," said the RSPCA's Marie Sandall.

"Dolly and Carrie are sisters. They have grown up together and just won't be parted for long. But, although they don't need a massive house or any more exercise than any other dog, no one has seemed interested in giving them a home.''

Anyone who can help can visit the RSPCA centre in Landing Lane, York, between 11am and 4pm, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, or call (01904) 654949.
