YOUNGSTERS at a Teesside sports club are trying their hand at one of the more unusual winter sports.
Indoor curling, complete with plastic stones and pushers, is just one of the new sports on offer at Redcar Sportsability Club.
A grant of £863 from the West Redcar Single Regeneration Budget's Community Chest has also paid for indoor athletics equipment.
Foam javelins and discuses, and high jump and long jump equipment have also been purchased.
The club, which meets at Redcar Leisure Centre and has 37 special needs youngsters as members, is now looking for new members.
Club co-ordinator Neil Young said: "It is going to help us a great deal and the reaction after the first session showed it is going to be money well spent.
"We did not have enough equipment for them to use. Now we have concentrated on buying new equipment especially for those less able."
To join the club, call Mr Young on (01642) 444310.
