AUDREY Coyle had cause for a double celebration this week. As she reached her 80th birthday, she also clocked up 25 years as a baby clinic volunteer.
Mrs Coyle started as a volunteer for the Northallerton Inner Wheel, selling powdered milk and weighing new-born babies at the Zetland Street clinic in Northallerton and Romanby's WI Hall. She now puts in a couple of hours a week at Romanby's Mayford House.
Mrs Coyle, who has two grandchildren and two great grandchildren, loves her work and has no thoughts of giving it up. She said: "I am now seeing the grandchildren of people who came to me when I started. It is not too taxing and I really enjoy it."
Mrs Coyle celebrated her birthday with her family.
