SOLDIERS have raised £80 for charity with a hair-raising sponsored event.
Four soldiers from Catterick Garrison and two youngsters from the Prince's Trust Volunteers took part in a sponsored hair waxing in Darlington's market place, on Saturday.
A beautician from Ashna Total Body Care offered her services free and people paid £1.50 for each strip of wax that was pulled off the soldiers' bodies.
Officer cadet Dave Bridges said: "I had my armpits and chest done in the end. It was painful but I didn't mind because it was for charity.
"It was a success and the money we raised will go towards helping the community in Darlington."
He said the money was likely to be spent on gifts for children in hospital over Easter.
