SQUADDIES raised £80 for charity with a hair-raising sponsored event on Saturday.
Four soldiers from Catterick Garrison and two young Prince's Trust volunteers agreed to have their legs waxed by shoppers in Darlington's market place.
A beautician from Ashna Total Body Care offered her services free of charge and people paid £1.50 for each strip of wax they pulled off the soldiers' bodies.
"I had my armpits and chest done in the end," said Officer Cadet Dave Bridges. "It was painful, but I didn't mind because it was a success and the money we raised will be spent on gifts for children in hospital over Easter."
