PUPILS at Blackhall Colliery Primary School are celebrating after their school received an Activemark Gold award.
Given by Sport England, the awards recognise schools which provide a wide range of sports activities both within and outside of lessons.
The school's physical education co-ordinator, Kay Stephenson, said: "There are quite a number of schools that apply and aren't successful.
"It's good recognition for the school and the children's success."
The school will receive a certificate and plaque, and will hold its Activemark Gold status for three years.
