A SERIES of health walks have been planned to encourage people to take more exercise.
Circular walks ranging from two miles to four miles in and around Durham and Chester-le-Street have been devised to help people incorporate walking in their daily routine.
The first of the walks will begin on Sunday, in Durham, taking in the cathedral and castle on a three-mile route around the River Wear.
People wanting to take part should meet outside Federation House, in Green Lane, Durham, at 11am.
The walking scheme has been devised by Durham and Chester-le-Street Lifestyle Initiative and the Specialist Health Promotion Service. A pack containing a map and information on walks that people can do by themselves will soon be made available.
