THE first of a phased programme of improvements to a car park in Stockton will begin next week.
As part of the Castlegate Centre's upgrading programme, the car parks will be modernised with external decorative ribs removed to allow more natural daylight in.
Work will start from Lunn Poly/Swallow Hotel along Bridge Road to the corner of Tower Street, from Monday until Sunday, March 23,
Work will continue along Bridge Road to its junction with Riverside Road, from Monday, March 24 to Saturday, April 12. Footpath diversions will be signposted and Tower Street will operate a one-way system to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The final phase will get under way with work progressing down Riverside Road, from Monday, April 14 to Sunday May 4. During this period, the service sliproad will be closed and footpath diversions will be in operation.
At any one time the works should affect only 20 car park spaces to keep disruption at a minimum.
On every Sunday throughout the works, all entrances and exits to the multi-storey car park will be re-routed via the roof-top car park.
