PUPILS at a Darlington school have received a caring for the environment award for their anti-litter campaign.
Youngsters at Whinfield Junior School were given the certificate by leader of Darlington Borough Council John Williams.
It recognises the school for its commitment to tackling litter in and around the school grounds.
Staff and youngsters at the school have taken part in many litter picking sessions.
They have also shown their creative side by designing posters and writing poems, short stories and even rap songs about the problem of rubbish.
The school's efforts are part of Darlington Borough Council's anti-litter campaign, which has been backed by The Northern Echo.
The campaign was launched last year and aims to keep the town's streets and parks rubbish free.
