WEAR Valley councillors met yesterday to endorse a Citizens Promise to the district's 63,000 residents.
The pledge, which will be published in the council newspaper Wear Valley Matters, lists a number of aims and targets to be met over the next financial year.
Chief executive Iain Phillips told a meeting of the authority's policy and strategic development committee: "This is about the council saying publicly that this is what we promise to do with your money next year.
"It is also about making sure that we deliver it and meet our targets, because there is no point in making promises if we don't keep them."
