An Iraqi asylum seeker appeared in court yesterday accused of stabbing another Iraqi 12 times during a street attack.
Hemen Feteh, 21, was charged at Teesside Crown Court with the attempted murder of Shakawan Ali Muhammed, 18, in Middlesbrough town centre.
Police want to interview another nine Iraqis and are still searching for a knife believed to have been used in the attack, on February 23, said Richard Parsell, prosecuting.
Feteh, of Borough Road, Middlesbrough, made no application for bail. He was remanded in custody until May 16 when he will be asked if he wants to plead to the charge.
