A SERIES of walks in Darlington town centre and the surrounding countryside are taking place this spring.
The borough council arranges the walks with volunteers. They are designed to help participants learn more about the town.
Proposed walks include the Abbey Amble, exploring the history of Clare Abbey, and the "North End Ramble" around the Whessoe Road and Thompson Street area.
The guided walks cost £2 for adults and £1 for senior citizens. No booking is necessary and participants can pay on arrival. Countryside events include a day with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers at Middleton St George.
Leaflets are available from the town hall, tourist information office and libraries.
