MORE than 370 children from schools in Ferryhill and Chilton have taken part in an arts project using ceramic tiles.
The schools approached Sedgefield Borough Council last Easter and asked it to support the idea which aims to ease the transition for pupils moving from primary to secondary school.
Ceramic art specialist Judy Caplin was employed by the council on the project, which was supported by funding from Sedgefield Borough Council Arts Development and Northern Arts. The project saw the primary schools creating work celebrating their school, with one tile made by each pupil.
The tiles have now been fired, glazed, grouted and installed by Mrs Caplin.
