Two people were taken to hospital with whiplash following a road accident in Burnhill Way, Newton Aycliffe, at just after 8.30am yesterday.
Three other people, including a child, were also taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital following the accident which involved two cars. Three ambulances, two police officers and two paramedics on motorcycles attended the scene.
PRAYER DAY: A service to celebrate the women's world day of prayer is to be held in St Clare's Church, Newton Aycliffe, today at 7pm. The speaker is the Reverend Michelle Ferguson. This year's service has been prepared by the Christian Women of Lebanon. Light refreshments will be served.

CHARITY SALE: Seven-year-old Matthew Cant, of Sedgefield, has organised a bring and buy sale to raise money for the Blue Peter Waterworks appeal. The sale will be held in the Scout Hall, in Sedgefield, on Saturday, March 15, from 10am.
CLAIRVOYANCE NIGHT: A clairvoyance night to raise funds for the Aristocat Rescue centre, in Newton Aycliffe, is being held at The Coachman Hotel, Victoria Road, Darlington, on Tuesday, from 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £7, are available from The Coachman, or on (01325) 300290.
COUNTRY NIGHT: Crook Cricket Club is staging a country and western night tomorrow. Country music with Ron Spence starts at 8pm. Admission is £2.
EVENT LICENCE: Villagers in Heighington have applied for a musical entertainment licence to hold a St George's Day event on the village green on April 26. Darlington Borough Council's licensing committee will meet next week to discuss the plans.
DISCO NIGHT: There will be a disco for children over the age of seven at Cockfield Community Centre, on Monday, March 17, between 6pm and 8pm. The disco is for youngsters from Cockfield and Evenwood. To book call Danielle Barnes on (01388) 710808.
GARDENING CLUB: Gainford and District Gardening Club will host a talk by Trevor Rogers called Life in the Victorian Walled Garden, at 7.30pm, on Tuesday. The talk will be held in Gainford Village Hall.
