A SHOP-KEEPER has collected more than a million stamps in ten months to raise money for charity.
Peter Sotheran, managing director of Sotheran's Printers in Redcar, east Cleveland, has collected the stamps for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
He said: "With the support of our customers we have collected one million stamps in record time.
"This makes seven million we have collected in recent years and seven puppies our customers have helped to train."
Mr Sotheran said that every day scores of local people leave bags containing used stamps at the stationery shop while every postal delivery brings a dozen envelopes of stamps from supporters as far afield as Scotland and Hampshire.
Just before Christmas stamps were arriving at a rate of almost 50,000 a week
