Yarm Primary School has won Sport England's Active Mark Gold Award for sport and physical activity.
The school promotes physical activity with the children taking between 90 minutes and two hours of exercise in lessons each week covering activities such as swimming, netball and athletics.
The school also promotes healthy living and exercise with dance and gym clubs and by promoting sporting events. There is also summer activities for the year six pupils.
It was also one of the first schools in the borough of Stockton to develop a walking bus, where the children are encouraged to walk to and from school and has applied for accreditation under the Healthy School initiative.
The school is also working with Conyers Comprehensive School in Yarm, to share their all-weather facilities.
Sixth form students at Conyers also coach the primary children as part of their course work.
Julia Gregory, PE co-ordinator for Yarm Primary, said: "The children are totally motivated and they cannot get enough of our exercise activities."
