TWO motorists died and several more were injured in two accidents in North Yorkshire at the weekend.
A woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a man died in hospital following a three-car pile-up, involving a Renault Laguna, a Ford Focus and a Fiat Punto, on the B6265 Aldborough to Green Hammerton Road, near Marton-cum-Grafton, at about 7.15pm on Friday.
The driver of the Ford Focus, who came from the Wetherby area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Laguna was air-lifted to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries. He died at 1am on Saturday.
Three other motorists, including the occupants of the Fiat Punto, were taken to York Hospital with lesser injuries.
A York man was injured when his Citroen ZX collided with a Samson CVRT tracked tank on the A64, between the Fulford interchange and Grimston Bar, on Saturday morning. The car's driver was taken to York Hospital for observation.
