ASPIRING screenwriters from across the region are being encouraged to take part in a script-writing initiative.
Northern Film and Media, in partnership with the Film Council, is providing an opportunity for writers new to screenwriting to attend a screenplay development class.
It is the first session of its kind in the North-East and will cover designing and writing ideas for films, how they can be used to develop a project and how to get a commission.
Five writers will be commissioned to write a film treatment with the guidance of a script expert.
Two will then be selected and provided with continued funding and support to turn that treatment into a first draft screenplay.
Tom Harvey, the chief executive of Northern Film and Media, said: "This masterclass will bring together experts to advise on script-writing and harness the raw talent which exists across the region."
To apply for the class, submit a one-page feature film synopsis, a CV and a completed script initiative application, available at www.northernmedia.org
