THE Tees Valley Youth Orchestra (TVYO) is to hold a concert of Russian music this week at the Stockton Baptist Tabernacle.
The 70-piece orchestra is made up of some of the most talented young musicians in the area and is the flagship orchestra of the Tees Valley Music Service.
The concert, on Friday, at 7.45pm, opens with Glinka's Russian and Ludmilla Overture and ends with Rachmaninov's final composition, the Symphonic Dances.
The programme also features the Violin Concerto, by Kabalevsky, in which the soloist will be Roger Coull, leader of the Coull String Quartet, who has returned from touring the Caribbean.
Mr Coull and his quartet are regular visitors to Teesside and he will be coming to the area again next month to direct the TVYO's annual chamber orchestra course.
David Kendall, the conductor of next week's concert, said: "We have all the ingredients of a terrific concert."
Tickets are £6, and £3.50 concessions, available at the door.
