Darlington skipper Craig Liddle leads his side out at home to Cambridge tonight declaring: "We have a point to prove."
Quakers are just seven points clear of the relegation zone after Saturday's disappointing defeat at Bournemouth. And Liddle is in defiant mood. "We were all very disappointed after the Bournemouth game and now we have a point to prove," he said.
"We all know we are capable of so much more and we'll be looking to show that against Cambridge.
"It's not going to be easy but we're all determined to put things right."
None more so than caretaker boss Mick Tait, who this morning has his side in for extra training.
"We don't normally train on the morning of evening games but Mick wants us all in," said Liddle.
"We need to get rid of that sluggishness and that's why we're doing some extra work."
Having frustrated a whole host of sides on their travels this season Quakers were less than convincing on Saturday.
"The system we have used in the past has usually worked very well away from home but on Saturday it just didn't happen," said Liddle.
"There were one or two who just didn't do things they were told and we were made to pay for it. We were very sloppy and got punished for it.
"It's just not acceptable and the sooner we put that right the better - we need to take at least four points from our next two games.
"We've got some tough games coming up away to teams at the bottom which is not going to be easy." And Liddle knows tonight's visitors Cambridge will be no exception, despite their 3-1 defeat at York on Saturday.
"They still have a very good chance of making the play-offs so it's bound to be another tough game," he said.
"We need to improve massively if we are going to get anything out of it."
Tait could revert to a 4-4-2 formation tonight as defender Gary Pearson serves a one-match ban after his sending off at Wrexham.
Striker Danny Mellanby could return after missing out with flu at the weekend.
Jim Corbett, who is yet to play since arriving on loan from Blackburn, remains doubtful with a thigh problem while defender Stuart Whitehead is still sidelined with an ankle injury.
