A GROUP to broaden women's horizons was launched yesterday.
The Pride of Women group was the brainchild of Millennium Volunteer Ann Huntingdon. The administrator at Pride House, on Peterlee's Eden Hill estate, realised that there were groups catering for the estate's young people and elderly, but none to improve women's lives.
She chose to use £1,300 Millennium Volunteer funding awarded by the County Durham Foundation to acquire the skills required to run a women's group.
Yesterday, the group, which Ms Huntingdon hopes will raise women's expectations, was launched at Pride House with a series of taster sessions and demonstrations.
The group meets there on Tuesdays, from 9.15am to 12.30pm. For more information call 0191-586 1422.
Ms Huntingdon has also recently set up a mother and toddler group, which runs at Pride House on Wednesday mornings
