POLICE are hunting a man who paid for a DVD player using forged £20 notes.
The man answered a newspaper advertisement placed by a resident in Kay Street, Stanley. He paid for the secondhand machine with three £20 notes, which his victim later discovered were fakes.
The notes all bear the same serial number - CD77706242.
The crook is described as white, aged 26 to 28, 6ft 6in, of medium build, with a pale complexion. He had dark, shaved hair and facial stubble.
His appearance is described as scruffy. He was wearing a dark-coloured sweatshirt, stone washed jeans and tan coloured boots.
He claimed to be from the Rowlands Gill area of Gates-head and had a local accent.
