A THIEF stole a large quantity of cash and a Nokia mobile phone after entering a property in Maple Terrace, Stanley, at about 7.30pm on Saturday.

FAIR SUCCESS: Record-breaking numbers of people keen to find work, start a new career or set up in business visited Gateshead Council's employment fair. More than 1,600 job-seekers attended the fair, the highest figure in the event's seven-year history.
