A workforce who walked out in protest at the installation of closed circuit TV cameras, returned to work last night.
All 70 shopfloor workers, members of the GMB union, staged the 24-hour stoppage on Monday, halting production at Conder Products, on the South-West Industrial Estate in Peterlee, east Durham.
Talks between regional GMB officials and company management broke up last night without agreement. The union is threatening a repeat of the action if the situation is not resolved soon.
The protest was sparked by the dismissal of a worker for an alleged safety breach, combined with the introduction of cameras at the fibreglass tank manufacturing plant.
No one from the company was available for comment last night.
