STUART Turner, 44, of Faverdale Road, Darlington, had his taxi licence revoked by councillors yesterday (Wed).
Darlington Borough Council's licensing committee revoked the licence due to a drink driving conviction. He will be able to reapply for a licence in March 2004.
The following taxi drivers were given warning letters by the committee: Kevin Beaumont, 39, of Thorntree Gardens, Middleton-St-George; Adrian Knight, 29, of Neasham Road, Darlington; Michael Laing, 52, of Ingleby Moor Crescent; Christopher Langston, 29, of Dunelm Walk; Simon Smith, 38, of Hambleton Grove. The warnings were for a variety of driving convictions.
John O'Brien, 40, of Arnold Road, was granted a new licence but given a warning letter for a speeding offence in 2001.
Simon Thubron, 31, of The Broadway, had his licence suspended for seven days for overtaking on a double white line.
The committee agreed unanimously to take no action against Paul Saunders, 58, of Cobden Street, for a speeding conviction last year.
