CHILDREN in the Stockton area are being given the chance to vote for their book of the year.
About 700 nine to 12-year-olds, from primary and secondary schools across the borough, have been busy reading to find out who their favourite author is from a selection of five children's titles.
This year's five shortlisted titles are: Pure Dead Magic, by Debi Gilori; Stop The Train, by Geraldine McCaughrean; The House of Eyes, by Thoas Bloor; Cold Tom, by Sally Prue; and The Witch Trade, by Michael Molloy.
The result will be revealed on Tuesday, March 25.
The event is sponsored by Safeway, in Ingleby Barwick, Badger for Books, Thornaby Education Action Zone, North Stockton Education Action Zone, Write to Read and The Retired Members' Association.
