THE brother of missing Craig Hetherington told yesterday of his family's heartache since his only sibling disappeared.
Mark Hetherington spoke at a press conference at Redcar Police Station to appeal for information after detectives admitted they had no new leads.
Teesside University student Craig, 22, from Guisborough, has not been seen since he left Middlesbrough's Cornerhouse pub at about 1am, on Saturday, February 22.
Since then police have interviewed dozens of people, watched security camera footage, conducted searches of the riverbank, scoured derelict buildings and made public appeals, but all to no avail.
Mark, 26, said: "Craig is a nice lad who will do anything for anybody.
"His disappearance is a complete mystery. He had no problems at home and none at the university I'm aware of. He has never gone missing like this before. The not knowing has left our mother, Sandra, in particular, beside herself."
Detective Sergeant Simon Hurwood, who was planning more searches said no money had been taken from Craig's bank account since he disappeared. He added that there was nothing in Craig's character or background to indicate he would disappear without telling anybody. The chemical engineering student had had a few drinks with friends in Guisborough and Middlesbrough but was not excessively drunk.
When last seen Craig, who is 6ft 2in with short, light brown hair, was wearing a predominantly black shirt with white checks, white collar and cuffs. He also wore a silver DKNY watch.
