OBJECTIONS raised over plans for a teaching extension and extra car and bus parking at Richmond School have prompted councillors to visit the site.
North Yorkshire County Council's planning committee heard that the scheme had attracted 37 letters of objection from nearby homes.
Most were concerned at the bus park and some questioned landscaping, possible loss of archaeological earthworks and the impact on the nearby former girls' high school, a listed building.
Richmond Civic Society has also objected to the design and size of the two-storey extension, and added that the bus park would mean the loss of the last remaining significant area of green space on the eastern approach to the town.
