A BURGLAR who was caught Cinderella-style after he lost his shoe at the scene of the crime was jailed for two years yesterday.
Michael Swinnerton, 26, fled leaving behind one of his trainers but forensic scientists found hairs inside which DNA tests linked to him.
Police arrested him for the burglary in which he punched and kicked owner Kenneth Webb, who caught him looting a bedroom, said Robin Turton, prosecuting.
Swinnerton, who was on prison licence, and another man, who is still on the run, targeted the house in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, on a Sunday night in February last year.
Swinnerton, of Jubilee Street, North Ormesby, Middlesbrough, was jailed for two years including six months for breaching his prison licence after he pleaded guilty to the burglary on February 3, last year.
