A PENSIONER tackled a bogus caller after he attempted to steal a tin of money from her home.
The woman was led to believe that the man was from the water board, and after being asked to go upstairs to check her taps she returned to find him with the tin, which contained £250, and her purse with £50.
She struggled to recover the tin from the man, who is thought to be aged 30 to 40, and managed to do so without getting hurt. He still managed to get away with the purse.
The incident happened at about 7pm on Thursday at an address in Mount Pleasant Road, Stockton.
The man was stockily built and wearing a black coat.
