INTREPID fundraisers are preparing for a marathon wheelchair push.
Ian Carter from Colburn, near Catterick, will push friend Paul Hodgson in his wheelchair from Darlington Football Club's Feethams ground to Scunthorpe United Football Club's Glandford Park home.
The pair set off on their 112-mile journey on Wednesday and hope to arrive in time for the Quakers' match next Saturday.
They are raising money for the Percy Hedley Foundation, which helps children and adults with disabilities and is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
After contracting meningitis when he was seven months old, Mr Hodgson attended Percy Hedley School.
He said: "Because I benefited so much from the specialist teaching and therapy I received during my time at Percy Hedley School I felt I wanted to give something back as my way of saying thank you.
"When I heard the foundation was raising funds to develop a sports and fitness centre for disabled people as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, I decided I would like to do my bit to help."
