Darlington Spraire Lasses: Both Middlesbrough FITC Under-12s and Spraire Lasses Under-12s were in sparkling form but it was the visiting Spraire side who took the three points.
Laura Gowling opened the scoring for Spraire after three minutes with a well taken shot. Middlesbrough nearly drew level within seconds with Middlesbrough player of the match Jo Garvey forcing a superb save from Spraires Katie McTague.
Laura Gowling got her second giving the Lasses a 2-0 lead into the first break. Captain Rachel McKnight got on the scoresheet with a well worked move up the right wing with Spraire's player of the match Jordan Atkinson placing a perfectly weighted pass. Spraire's back three of Helen McTague, Lauren Claxton and Laura Spence held their ground in the third quarter with some strong defensive work denying Middlesbrough any opportunity of getting on the scoresheet.
Laura Gowling got her hat-trick to make the score a comfortable 4-0. Spraire's subsitutes, Joanna Dinsdale and Tanya Shires, provided additional cover as the team began to feel the strain of playing on Boro's large pitch. Jordan Atkinson got her first of the match in the 55th minute with a great solo effort. Becky Stevenson grabbed a goal back for Middlesbrough in the dying seconds only to see Spraire's Rachel McKnight score a cheeky goal with a neat backheel beyond the keeper's reach. Final score was M'brough FITC 1, Spraire Lasses 6.
Spraire Lasses Under-14s lost 5-1 at Lumley Ladies with Brogan Prudhoe scoring Spraire's only goal and Chloe Atkinson winning girl of the match.
Spraire Lasses Under-10s and 11s played in a friendly round-robin competition against three teams from Lumley.
The young Spraire Lasses team achieved a credible second position with a 1-1 draw, a 3-1 win and a 4-1 defeat.
