A TEENAGER who won the 2002 Choir Girl Of The Year Contest is to sing at the Royal Albert Hall, in London.
Lucy Rhodes, 14, will appear with former choirboy turned TV presenter Aled Jones for the concert on March 30. The performance will be shown on the BBC's Songs of Praise programme. Lucy, from Kirkby Overblow, near Harrogate, will also feature in a Songs of Praise Mothering Sunday programme, to be shown on March 30.
A pupil at St Aidan's Church of England High School, in Harrogate, Lucy sings in the choir at the town's St Peter's Church and has been given solo spots in Easter concerts on BBC Radio 2.
Her mother, Dawn, said: "Since winning the contest, things have just taken off and the engagements rolled in. When she was 13 Lucy became one of the youngest members of the National Youth Training Choir of Great Britain and is a founder member of the Yorkshire Youth Choir.
