The Bishop of Durham, the Right Reverend Michael Turnbull will bless Durham Cathedral's education and resource centre (Cedric) at 10.30am next Monday.
He will be helped by children, one of whom will summon him from the Chapter House, following which they will proceed to Cedric for the ceremony. The centre will provide a range of facilities for teachers and children.
GARDEN CHARGES: The University of Durham's Botanic Garden is to charge admission for children for the first time. From next month, youngsters aged five to 16 will pay 50p. Children under five will still be admitted free. An adult ticket will rise to £1.75 and concessions rise to £1.
SPORT AWARD: Fell Dyke Community Primary School, in Springwell, Gateshead, has received an Activemark Award from Sport England, in recognition of its commitment to providing top quality sporting facilities for its 220 pupils.
RELIGIOUS ROADSHOW: The Voice of Methodism Association will hold a roadshow on the Anglican/Methodist covenant at Easington Colliery Baptist Church, Crawlaw Road, at 7.30pm next Monday.
