Police are investigating after a fire broke out at a house in Crossfell Road, Berwick Hills, Middlesbrough, on Saturday night.
It is believed youths had pushed paper through the letterbox before setting it alight and running away. Fortunately, no one was in the house. The building was badly smoke damaged and the front door was also damaged by fire.
Anyone with any information about the incident, which took place at about 10pm, is asked to contact PC Angela Suggitt on (01642) 303126.
