Richmond Town: The Under-14s took on North Ormesby in the North Riding Cup quarter final, writes BEN PROSSER.
The match was quickly over and was not much of a contest with Richmond winning 13-1, a great victory. N Fisher scored four, J Flannery three, C Westgarth three, J Wooff two and K Holbrook one while there was also an own goal. The scoreline could have been even greater as Richmond also had four goals disallowed.
Richmond Under-15s were at home to Amalgamated Juniors and won 6-1 in a good all-round team performance in windy conditions. Goals were from C Cox (3), R Crowther (2) and A Weighell. I Robson scored for Amalagamated. P Akers gave a strong midfield performance and was man of the match.
Richmond Under-13s were at home to Coulby Newham and won 6-1. Richmond dominated the early exchanges but were kept at bay by some fine goalkeeping. The deadlock was finally broken after 20 minutes when G Love scored with a scorching 25 yard shot into the top corner. Just before half time Coulby Newham equalised following a good break away. The second half continued to see Richmond dominate and the pressure paid off with two goals from S Pritchard to give Richmond a two-goal cushion. Further goals from B Tack, T Keegan and substitute M Forrest reflected Richmond's control of the match.
Richmond Under-12s won again with Andrew Kearney scoring his first goal.
Richmond Under-11s were home to Dales Diamonds, winning 5-2. Richmond were a changed team due to injuries to Z Jackson and N Hodgson but they got off to a flying start with R Catterick scoring with just 57 seconds on the clock via a shot just inside the post. With the wind behind them, Richmond were unable to add further goals and they turned round 1-0 at half time.
Within minutes of the second half restarting Diamonds were level when T Thorogood scored. G Hill worked hard for Richmond and got his reward with a goal from outside the box. G Love then added another and the midfield combination were now causing problems for the Diamonds defence. G Hill added his second with another good shot but T Thorogood replied with his second making the score 4-2 but G Love got his second with an angled shot which looped over the Diamonds keeper. Man of match was C Morris.
Richmond Under-10s were away to Thirsk and team one lost 2-0. Thirsk scored through the latter minutes of the first half against the run of play. Richmond continued to work hard especially in midfield, continuously slicing open the Thirsk defence where man of match C Garside forced the keeper into some good saves. An excellent performance by all players rounded off by some good saves by goalkeeper E Kearney.
Team two lost 3-1. Richmond were unlucky to go 1-0 down after some good play. J Coddington scored for Richmond after a long free kick which found the top corner of the net and Richmond continued to play some good football and were unlucky not to score again. T Gould played very well in goal and man of match was J Coddington.
Richmond Under-9s played at home to local rivals Catterick AWS. Due to the large number of players on both sides four mini matches were played so everyone had a game. The scores were 2-1, 0-1, 0-3 and 1-1. A great performance by all of the Richmond players and if they could they would all have been man of the match but the award was given to new boy Harry Vernon playing his first game for Richmond
