Cleveland League: The best result of the week in Division One was a 5-1 away win recorded by Marske Workies A against Redcar Cons. B. Mark Rookes just managed to win the only frame for the Cons. when beating David Rhodes on the final black 44-38.
Rhodes then returned the compliment when winning the next frame, also on the final black 54-46, leveling the match at one frame each. Andrew Mudd then beat Mark Render with scores of 66-27 and 65-28 increasing Marske's lead to 3-1. Andrew Williams sealed the win beating Morris Mitford 71-23 and 53-35 during which Williams chalked up an excellent 43 break.
Redcar Lakes B recorded a 4-2 home win against Saltburn Cons. A. Leaders, Redcar Workies A, also beat Guisborough Cons. A by the same score. Richard Beckham recorded breaks of 41 and 47 in his match against Guisborough's Mike King. Guisborough TA held second-placed Redcar Lakes A to a 3-3 tie during which Gary Beckett, of the Lakes, compiled a 51 break in his match with Bill Cook. Lune Street's B team were also held to a 3-3 tie by Redcar Cons. A during which Kelvin Pickthall, from Redcar Cons., compiled a 31 break against Paul Smith. The remaining matches Carlin How A v Redcar Lakes C and Grinkle Park v New Marske end 3-3 ties.
In Division Two, the tussle for promotion continues with Ennis Square A moving back into second spot aided by a 5-1 home win against opponents Redcar Workies B. Steve Buckton won his two frames against Scott Chatterton 69-45 and 63-62. Kevin Moon then made it 4-0 for Ennis when beating Moore 49-36 and 49-34. Kevin Watson managed to pull a frame back for the Workies after beating Ricky Warrior 49-36 but Ricky returned the compliment winning the final frame 59-27. Leaders, Guisborough Quoit also chalked up a 5-1 home win against Lune Street A. Ennis Square's B team handed out a 6-0 whitewash to Saltburn Cons. B. The Redcar Literary Institute held Redcar Lakes D to a 3-3 tie. Marske Workies B v Val's Priory and Redcar Unionists B v The Lodge also ended as 3-3 ties.
