CENTURY FM presenter Paul Gough has been short-listed for a radio award.
The DJ, known as Goffy, who presents the breakfast show on the regional radio station, is in line for North of England presenter of the year in the British Radio Awards.
He is up against competitors from Sheffield, Leeds, Hull and Manchester and is the North-East's only nominee.
He said: "I was very surprised but delighted to hear that I'd been nominated, particularly because your name is put forward by your peers, and to be the only one from this area makes it that little bit special."
He received further good news last week when Capital Records presented him with a gold disc for the sales of his "wind-up" CD collection, which was presented to him by comedians Ant and Dec.
He will find out if he has scooped the award at a ceremony in London next month.
